WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO OUR CONSULTATION?

When you come in for your free consultation, I'll go over your situation and we'll explore your options. In order to do so, I will need information from you so I can analyze your case. When you come in, it will be very helpful if you bring the following:

  • A List of Everybody That You Owe Money To.

    Don't leave anybody off of the list. Even if you don't want to "bankrupt out" of certain creditors, list them anyway, so I can better understand your financial situation. You should provide the name, address, zip code, and approximate amount owing for each creditor. If possible, also bring the account numbers, and the approximate year the debt was incurred.

  • Copies of your last two pay-stubs for both you and your spouse, even if your spouse isn't going to file with you. Again, I need this so I can better understand your financial situation.

  • If your spouse can't come with you to the initial appointment, bring in the full name and social security number of your spouse. Include any nicknames, maiden name, or former names of your spouse.

  • If legal action is being taken against you, bring copies of the legal papers. Include summons, judgments, garnishments, writs of execution, Supplemental Proceeding Orders, Bench Warrants, Notice of Default, Notice of Sale, & Divorce Decrees.

  • It would be ideal if you could go to the link named Forms and fill out that information and bring it with you to our appointment. If you are not sure or have questions about some of the information requested, circle it and we will discuss it at our consultation. If you are completely confused, fill out what you can and we will fill it out together in my office.

If you don't bring the above items in, we can still have a useful discussion about your situation. But it will go much slower, and without all the information, I might not be able to answer all of your questions.

The following items are optional at the first appointment, but very useful. We'll probably eventually need them if you choose to file:

  • Copies of tax returns from the two previous years;
  • Copy of a recent credit report for you and spouse;
  • If you own a house, your last property-tax statement.

This is a Free, No-Obligation Consultation. You Do Not Need to Bring Any Money With You. (Even the Parking is Free). However, if you are pretty sure that you want to file right away, you can bring the court-filing fee if you wish. Prices are listed on the link Chapter 7 or Chapter 13?

If you have questions about what you should bring, contact us anytime.
